OPEN WORKSHOPS PROGRAMME – CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Between 16 and 20 September 2024, the World Congress of the International Academy of Ceramics (AIC) will take place in the cities of Caldas da Rainha and Alcobaça. The AIC was founded in 1952 with the aim of stimulating international cooperation between ceramics professionals in various countries. The theme of the 51st edition of the congress will be “Ceramics in the Mediterranean World: From Antiquity to Contemporaneity”. In addition to the congress, there will be various exhibitions, including the international exhibition entitled ‘Mediterranean Ceramics and its Global Influence’, which will be held in Alcobaça, and ‘Contemporary Portuguese Ceramics: AIC Members’ Exhibition’, which will be held at the Caldas da Rainha Cultural and Congress Centre. A series of exhibitions will take place in these two municipalities, as well as a number of parallel activities that aim to showcase the richness of ceramic culture in Portugal and, in particular, in the Western region. Within the framework of the event’s activities, we invite all ceramists to take part by having their atelier or studio open for visits, thus enabling visitors to get in touch with the creative environment in Caldas.

If you are interested in taking part, your space will be listed in the Open Studio Programme, which will be publicised. There may be initiatives taking place in the studio if it is considered relevant to the visit, otherwise the visit in itself is already a rich moment for sharing knowledge.

We ask that you fill in this form with the most relevant information by 23 August. However, if possible, TO reply as soon as possible.
