MESTRA - Caldas da Rainha Ceramics Market Exhibition

MESTRA – Mostra Mercado da Cerâmica das Caldas da Rainha is a cultural and creative meeting point for artisans, artists, the community and visitors through the exhibition and sale of ceramics. The event is complemented by a programme of cultural initiatives with exhibitions and visits to museums, guided tours, creative experiences, public mediation, talks on creativity and know-how, music, street entertainment and gastronomy, with local flavours in the spotlight.

In a celebration of ceramics, MESTRA brings together ceramicists from Caldas da Rainha and municipalities that are part of the Portuguese Association of Ceramic Towns and Villages (AptCVC), with the aim of creating a space for exchange that is representative of Portuguese ceramics. Caldas da Rainha is hosting ceramists from Alcobaça, Leiria, Aveiro, Covilhã, Porto de Mós, Tomar, Barcelos and Estremoz, bringing together around half a hundred ceramists at MESTRA.

MESTRA opens on 20 June in Parque D. Carlos I at 6pm with the inauguration of the RAINHA MESTRA collective tile exhibition.

In the year commemorating the Five Centuries of Queen Leonor’s Legacy, we invited the MESTRA ceramists to produce a tile alluding to the founding Queen of Caldas da Rainha, thus creating a group exhibition that pays homage to one of Portugal’s most significant queens.
