Exhibition of the World Collection of Cutlery Capitals at the Casa Amarela in the Caldas da Rainha Arts Centre

The Exhibition of the World Collection of Cutlery Capitals is a major international exhibition which will run until May 2027 at the Casa Amarela in the Caldas da Rainha Arts Centre. The exhibition invites the public to discover the cultural, technical and aesthetic diversity of the manufacture of knives, razors, scissors and cutting tools from various parts of the world. Each piece on display bears witness to a unique story, combining functionality with masterful craftsmanship and artistic expression. Within this vast international landscape, Portugal occupies a prominent position, distinguished by its technical precision, elegance and durability.

The exhibition places particular emphasis on the neighbouring municipalities of Caldas da Rainha and Alcobaça, regions where cutlery forms a key part of the economic and cultural heritage, with meticulous artisanal production coexisting alongside a strong industrial sector. As a UNESCO Creative City, Caldas da Rainha, through this initiative and the CaldasCut project, reinforces the link between international craftsmanship and local heritage, enriching the collection by incorporating Portuguese pieces and placing special emphasis on Santa Catarina. The exhibition is a true testament to the resilience, innovation and productive capacity of a sector that combines traditional craftsmanship with a vision for the future.
