Covilhã Design Triennial 2025

On March 21st, the Covilhã 2025 Design Triennial began, with the motto “Textile Landscapes” and will run until June 21st. It is an initiative of the Municipality of Covilhã within the scope of the UNESCO Creative City Action Plan in the area of ​​Design, a status it obtained in 2021.

This event seeks to promote a design culture in the city and the region, as well as establishing itself as a key event in the area of ​​national design. Its aim is to provide a space for discussion and dissemination of issues associated with the theme, promoting innovation and creativity in design.

The program includes eight exhibitions in twelve different locations in the city, in addition to several other initiatives, revitalizing Covilhã and collaborating with various local agents. Part of the program, the Creative Cities of Design Exhibition, ‘The World Wide Things Collection 2.0’, was inaugurated. This presents projects from the UNESCO Creative Cities Network of the Design cluster, which are examples of the good use of design as a tool for social, economic and ecological transformation of the regions surrounding these cities.

This day was attended by several cultural entities, such as the focal points of the creative cities Covilhã, Braga, Caldas da Rainha, Castelo Branco, Santa Maria da Feira, Idanha-a-Nova and Óbidos, Américo Rodrigues, Director-General of the Arts, Maria Regina Gomes Gouveia, Councilor for Culture in Covilhã, as well as other political entities.
