The Noble Hall of Covilhã City Hall received, last Tuesday, November 10, the presentation of the project “UNESCO Network of Creative Cities of Central Portugal”, which brings together the six municipalities of the region recognized as Creative Cities by UNESCO: Caldas da Rainha (Crafts and Folk Art), Castelo Branco (Crafts and Folk Art), Covilhã (Design), Idanha-a-Nova (Music), Leiria (Music) and Óbidos (Literature) and the Tourism Center of Portugal (TCP).
Led by Covilhã, this is a cooperation and collaboration initiative that aims to execute about 1.4 million euros until September 2026.
The guests were received by the Mayor of Covilhã, Vítor Pereira, who highlighted the importance of uniting these six cities in a joint work, having also stressed the importance of the project that should contribute to enhance a tourism differentiator and bet on a creative tourism strategy.
