Under the Twinning Agreement between the Municipality of Deruta and the Municipality of Caldas da Rainha, signed in March 2024, following a series of meetings and exchanges on the different social, cultural and economic aspects arising from a shared tradition in the creation and production of artistic ceramics, the two municipalities joined forces to organise an international meeting in Deruta on the theme of Ceramics and Women. How women became protagonists.

The project will take place in Deruta (Italy) between 23 and 26 November 2025, and in March 2026, it will be the turn of the city of Caldas da Rainha to host the project and the ceramists from Deruta. There will be 42 participants from each city, including 20 ceramists from each city, as well as members of the organisation and representatives from institutions linked to ceramics.

Promoted under the European CERV – Town Twinning programme, this joint project aims to highlight the role of women in the ceramics sector, foster cultural and professional exchange between municipalities, and promote gender equality and female entrepreneurship in the artistic and creative context.
