The Municipality of Caldas da Rainha will be selecting two representatives – ceramists and/or artisans – to take part in FIADA.
Those interested should express their intention to take part by 20 June to creative_city_caldas@mcr.pt, so that all the strategy and logistics associated with the event can be finalised, as well as booking a stand and hotel.
As in previous editions, FIADA 2025 is a meeting and sharing space for the UNESCO Creative Cities in Portugal – especially those linked to Crafts and Popular Arts – which can be represented institutionally or through the expertise of their craftspeople.
The Municipality of Covilhã will provide a stand and accommodation in a local hotel (bed and breakfast) for a period of 4 nights.
The timetable for the Fair is as follows:
4 September (Thursday), from 17h00 to 24h00
5 and 6 Sept. (Friday and Saturday), from 16h00 to 24h00
7 Sept. (Sunday), from 16h00 to 21h00
The main aim of FIADA, in Covilhã, is to publicise, preserve and enhance handicrafts, highlighting artisans and the importance of design in the conception/innovation and commercialisation of their products, based on traditional knowledge and techniques that must be promoted and safeguarded.
The event reinforces the importance of skills related to traditional crafts as an expression of cultural heritage and identity, but also as a field of creation, representativeness, social inclusion and the resilience of territories. In addition to the promotion and enhancement of handicrafts, the importance of creativity in the process of producing a contemporary handicraft is highlighted, bringing artisans and designers into dialogue during the four-day event.
FIADA is thus a space for cultural encounters, aimed at all participants and visitors, with a focus on bringing together the knowledge and skills of craftspeople and designers, as well as publicising and raising awareness of the importance of their work. It takes place in Covilhã’s Jardim das Artes and, in addition to the exhibition of craft and design products, the programme also includes workshops for children, adults and families, concerts, musical entertainment, installations and artistic residencies and gastronomy.
