Exchange “Ceramics and women. How women became protagonists”

From 23 to 26 November 2025, the exchange programme Ceramics and Women: How Women Became Protagonists will take place. This initiative is organised by the municipalities of Deruta and Caldas da Rainha as part of the European programme CERV – Town Twinning (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values – Town Twinning), aimed at supporting meetings between twinned towns with the aim of strengthening ties between European citizens, promoting cultural, social and economic exchange, encouraging joint reflection on European values, active citizenship, equality and diversity, as well as creating sustainable partnerships between municipalities, local associations and civil society organisations.

This project gives 20 female potters working in Caldas da Rainha the opportunity to travel to Deruta and take part in a programme rich in sharing and experiences, including an exhibition by the participating potters.

In addition to this group of potters, there will also be a delegation made up of institutions from the Caldas community linked to ceramics, with representatives from the Bordalo Pinheiro School Group, the Higher School of Arts and Design, cultural associations and museums, as well as members of the technical team from the Tourism and Culture Units and a representative from the Municipality.

In 2026, it will be Caldas da Rainha’s turn to welcome 20 ceramists from Deruta, thus completing this cultural exchange.
