Pedro Brás has his workshop in the most appropriate place possible: Ceramists Alley. His workshop occupies a large area full of light where some cats roam. Is there any correlation between cats and pottery? So it’s not that this animal was modeled by countless ceramists, always with elegant shapes and friendly appearance? Pedro Brás was born on 29/10/1962, in Caldas da Rainha. From an early age he began to work with clay, having started his apprenticeship with Master Alberto Miguel, around 1978. Then he works in several factories, Subtil being the last. When it closes, he starts working on its own, which he has been doing for about 20 years. His brand is “The Lighthouse”, theme of his great interest, so much so that makes replicas of the lighthouses of our coast. He works with red clay and earthenware and makes decorative and utilitarian pieces. Curiously, some of his pieces are decorated with “moss”, a technique used by the old potters and which has since fallen into disuse. Pedro Brás pieces are handmade, hand painted, fresh colors and harmonious shapes. We have vases, fish, dishes, leaves, flowers, snails, roosters, owls, animals from the traditional Chaldean pottery, to which the author, by the application of small details or the use of colors, gives a surprising modernity. The pieces are sold in his own store and in several cities of the country as well as in Spain, Belgium and France.
