Mariana Sampaio

Mariana Sampaio was born in 1991 in Golegã, but lives and works in Caldas da Rainha.

She graduated and holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from ESAD-CR. She joined the Erasmus program, studying at BIAD in Birmingham, England.

She is Creative Technician of Ceramics by CENCAL of Caldas da Rainha.

In 2013, she won the Jéunne Création Européenne Award 2013/2015, representing Portugal in a traveling exhibition in Europe, which went through several countries.

In 2017, she was selected for the largest contemporary art fair for independent artists, ARTROOMS 2017 in London. That year, she created Mariana Sampaio Studio, a ceramics and fine arts studio.

In 2019, she participated in the IV International Ceramic Universe Exhibition in São Paulo, Brazil, where she won the International Prize with the play “The Melted Cube”.

In 2022, she began a trans-Atlantic collaboration with an American ceramist, producing pieces together in Portland, Oregon, USA. Conciliating with formations she taught in Traditional Tile Shop Portguesa, in this city and in Sonoma, California.

Currently produces in her studio, holds national and international exhibitions, and gives training in institutions CENCAL and CEERDL and Mariana Sampaio Studio.
