Catarina Lente (Lisbon, 1974) is a designer and computational craftswoman. She graduated in Industrial Design from ESAD.CR and studied at Escola Artística António Arroio and EINA – Centre Universitari de Disseny i Art de Barcelona. She develops a practice that intersects technology, art and ceramics.
With a 30-year trajectory in the fields of technology and design, her work incorporates concepts such as metamedium, computer artisan and computational art, engaging in dialogue with the tradition of Portuguese azulejo. Through the project Metatiles, she investigates the reinterpretation of the azulejo in light of contemporary technologies, using generative coding and hybrid tools such as the pen plotter. Since February 2024, she has been working in the studio she established in Caldas da Rainha, at the Fa-lo space.
