Luís Oliveira was born in Caldas da Rainha on 31/05/1966. Very early he begins to learn the art of working in clay, in a factory that existed there and to which is due to the learning of many potters who later cleared his path: the Subtil Factory, which also no longer exists. Luís Oliveira enters the factory at the age of 15 and leaves when he was 24. For 9 and a half years, every day in contact with plaster he learns the secrets of modeling and molds, in this period, in 1983, he attends the first course of ceramic modeling at CENCAL and was so keen in his work that he decides to dedicate himself only to this area of ceramics. When he leaves the Subtil Factory, he establish himself. Later, he completed his training, along with his individual work, teaches at CENCAL. His students are secondary and higher education teachers, as well as the usual students who attend the vocational learning courses. More or less after five years he is employed as a modeler at Fábrica Bernardo, in Alcobaça. This factory is dedicated to the manufacture of avant-garde decorative tableware. It maintains this place from 2003 to 2006, chooses again for independent work, but never lost the ties that connect him to the early mentioned factory. He makes the models from a project, executes the molds, creates a madre, which will allow him to execute the number of pieces that are needed. The molds are made of plaster, there are several tides of plaster, depending on the molds that he wants to perform. Luís Oliveira is one of those artists who work in the shadow, because the molds that will later originate the pieces that we all admire come out of his hands.
