José Carlos Matos de Almeida is a multifaceted artist because he works with various materials: ceramics, bronze fiber, waxes. José Carlos was born on 13/03/1987 in Coimbra. Years later, in Caldas da Rainha, he learned ceramic modeling at CENCAL, and from 1993 he collaborated in a modeling studio. In 1997 he created his own studio, where he began to dedicate himself to plastic creation. His studio is an authentic showcase of almost everything that human hands can do with clay and with a particularity: the artist responds to orders and creates pieces with certain specificities. Those shelves are a real world of imagination and creativity. José Carlos models the pieces that are requested and from them are made the molds that will serve as the basis for the final reproduction of the pieces. Thus, this artist never appears as the author of the pieces, he who creates the soul of the pieces that later appear signed by others. José Carlos is a modest artist. We can perhaps say that his modesty is not in proportion to the quality of the art that comes out of his hands. Given the particularity of his work, he does not sell directly to the public.
